1. I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of

His Majesty's Treasury to refer to Sir G. Grindle's letter

2015 of the 31st December (30071/1927) enclosing a copy of a

despatch received from the Officer Administering the

Government of Hong Kong, together with a copy of a

letter from the Chief Manager of the Hong Kong and

Shanghai Banking Corporation, relative to the proposed

New Ordinance of the Corporation.

2. My Lords have again consulted the Board of

Trade on the matter, and I am to transmit herewith, for

the information of the Secretary of State, a copy of a

further letter received from that Department. The

amendments of Clause 5(1) of the draft Ordinance referred

to in the final paragraph of that letter are
